The Sauternes Cask Matured expression launches the ‘Warehouse 1’ range, having been matured in the Elgin-based distillery’s ‘warehouse 1’ for 14 years, exclusively in five ex-Sauternes wine casks from France. Glen Moray’s head of whisky creation, Dr Kirstie McCallum, describes the dram, which marries the Speyside spirit with festive notes of dark chocolate, Seville orange and spice, as “a real celebration of flavour and Glen Moray’s passion for unusual cask maturation”.

According to the company, the Warehouse 1 collection will champion whiskies matured in “an adventurous assortment of interesting and innovative casks for years to come”.

In June of this year, La Martiniquaise-Bardinet, which bought Glen Moray from Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton in 2008, added a third expression to the Glen Moray ‘Elgin Curiosity Range’, a 13-year-old Madeira Cask Project single malt, aged in seven ex-Madeira hogsheads and limited to 1,468 bottles.
