On Wednesday, Brown-Forman will report its results from both the third quarter and the first nine months of the group’s fiscal-2020. Sales in the first quarter came in flat, while a top-line lift of 6% in Q2 resulted in half-year sales coming in 3% up on the corresponding period a year earlier. Here’s a look at the news that will likely shape the group’s performance in the three – and nine – months to the end of January.

  • Brown-Forman’s third-quarter numbers will tell us about the success – or otherwise – of its latest Jack Daniel’s flavoured expression. Launched in October, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple will have been available for the full three months. The variant, the third flavour in the JD portfolio, follows Tennessee Fire and Tennessee Honey, both of which posted very strong showings in the quarters after launch. Tennessee Apple has got off to a good start, with Brown-Forman crediting a 6% sales lift in the US during the second quarter to the month-long availability of the iteration
