Bardstown Bourbon Co has added a limited-edition expression to its Collaborative Series in the US.

Bardstown Bourbon’s Copper & Kings Sherry Finish was aged in Spanish Oloroso Sherry casks for 18 months. The 12-year-old Bourbon will be available in Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois.

A spokesperson for the firm told just-drinks that a total of 1,140 bottles are available. It is the fifth iteration in partnership with Copper & Kings American Brandy Co.

The Collaborative Series has a line of Bourbons finished in brandy, beer, Mistelle and French oak wine casks.

Last year, Bardstown Bourbon launched two updated iterations in its Fusion and Discovery line of whiskies.

The healthy performance of the American whiskey category in the US is set to continue in the coming years. According to figures from GlobalData, volumes in the country increased from 18.4m cases in 2014 to 23.4m in 2019 – a leap of 26.8%. GlobalData forecasts show that American whiskey volumes are set to rise further in the country, to 27.2m cases by 2023 – a near-48% rise over ten years.
