
Tomorrow, Pernod Ricard releases a trading update, covering sales for the third quarter of its fiscal-2018. Here’s a look at the events that shaped the three months to the end of March for the group.
- The quarter started with an MBE for Beefeater Gin master distiller Desmond Payne
- Later in January, the company added its weight to a ban on plastic straws and stirrers at industry events
- In the same month, the CEO of Absolut Elyx Jonas Tåhlin assumed marketing responsibility for Pernod’s spirits in the US, while retaining responsibility for Elyx in the country

- Later in the month, Pernod took full control of Avion Spirits Tequila
- In early February, the company released its H1 2018 numbers, with sales in the first six months of the fiscal year recording a mid-single-digit rise
- At the same time, the group confirmed a raft of changes at its senior executive level, featuring a change of CFO and the pending departure of the head of its Chivas Brothers unit
- Later in the month, Pernod launched strawberry-flavoured Beefeater Pink
- March was, of course, the month for the launch of a global Jameson campaign
- In the same month, the company appointed Sandrine Ricard to the newly-created position of head of sustainability & responsibility within Chivas Brothers
- There was sad news later in March as an employee died after an accident at a facility that forms part of Pernod’s Irish whiskey production operations in Midleton, Co Cork
