Remy Cointreau will issue a first-quarter trading update on Thursday (23 July). Here, just-drinks looks back at the spirits producer's activities in the three months to the end of June:
- In early April, the company announced plans to hand its Canadian distribution over to Glazer's, starting 1 June
- Later that month, the head of its US division stepped down after 18 years with the company. Philippe Farnier, Remy's senior VP for the Americas stepped in to the vacancy
- At the beginning of May, its former Champagne brand, Piper Heidsieck, dropped Remy as its distributor in the US
- In June, the company announced a leap in profits but a fall in sales for the 12 months to the end of March
- CEO Valérie Chapoulaud told analysts shortly afterwards that the company is searching for a 'jewel' of an acquisition
- At the beginning of July, Remy launched a tamper-proof Cognac bottle in China
- On 16 July, the company announced that it had purchased the plantation around its Mount Gay rum distillery in Barbados
