The proportion of drinks manufacturers hiring for big data-related positions dropped in June compared with the equivalent month last year, analysis of job trends in the industry suggests.

Some 67.6% of the companies included in GlobalData’s analysis recruited for at least one such position in June. This latest figure was lower than the 80% of companies that were hiring for big data-related jobs a year ago.

However, when it came to the rate of all job openings that were linked to big data, related job postings stood at 5.7% of newly-posted job advertisements. That was up when compared to the 4.7% of newly-advertised jobs that were linked to big data in the equivalent month a year ago.

Big data is one of the topics GlobalData, Just Drinks’ parent company, has identified as being a disruptive force facing business in the coming years. Companies that excel and invest in these areas now are thought to be better prepared for the future business landscape and better equipped to survive unforeseen challenges.
