Notably, Management Occupations jobs accounted for a 14% share of the global consumer industry’s future of work-related total new job postings in Q4 2023, down 6% over the prior quarter.

Management Occupations drive future of work-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 14%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the consumer industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 6% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 12% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 18% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent future of work roles include Transportation and Material Moving Occupations with a 10% share in Q4 2023, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 9% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in consumer industry accounted for 20% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were PepsiCo, Nestle, Unilever, Performance Food Group, and Mondelez International. Together they accounted for a combined share of 20% of all future of work-related new jobs in the consumer industry.

PepsiCo posted 529 future of work-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Nestle 390 jobs, Unilever 328 jobs, Performance Food Group 258 jobs, and Mondelez International 226 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 55.22% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023

The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the consumer industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 55.22% followed by India (7.03%) and the UK (3.54%). The share represented by the US was four percentage points lower than the 58.95% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
