Notably, COVID-19 was one of the most frequently referenced themes in Q2 2023, ranking highest in terms of mentions, ahead of artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicles, according to GlobalData.
Of the top leading companies in the consumer industry, Kao had the greatest increase in references for COVID-19 in Q2 2023, compared with the previous quarter. GlobalData identified 83 COVID-19-related sentences in the company's filings - 1% of all sentences - and an increase of 592% in Q2 2023 compared with Q2 2022. Estee Lauder’s mentions of COVID-19 dropped by 49% to 43 and Unicharm’s by 2300% to 24 and Campbell Soup’s by 60% to 16 and Imperial Brands’s by 129% to 16.
