UK non-alc beer business Brulo is aiming to secure grocery listings in its home market after attracting over £1m ($1.3m) in funding.

Brulo, set up in 2019, has pulled in funds from investors including Funkin founder Alex Carlton and Logan Plant, the founder of UK beer brand Beavertown.

The company’s alcohol-free beers are stocked at independent bars and restaurants in the UK and founder James Brown is targeting new customers in the on- and off-premise in the coming months.

“This year, we are aiming to secure selected UK grocery and on-trade listings, building on the growing number of independent bars, restaurants, and venues that already stock our beers,” Brown told Just Drinks.

The UK accounts for around half Brulo’s revenue. In the company’s 2025 financial year, it generated net sales of £1.6m.

So far outside the UK, Brulo has launched its beer in markets including France, Norway, Sweden and Japan. It has set up a fulfilment hub in the Netherlands to support a direct-to-consumer service in EU markets. Brown added: “We are in ongoing conversations with large national retailers who are keen to stock our beers.”

Belgium’s De Proef Brouwerij, a contract brewer for the likes of Mikkeller, produces Brulo’s beer. Its range includes Lust for Life IPA and Highway to Helles lager.

Brulo, meanwhile, yesterday (19 January) reopened an existing Crowdcube round for one week.

“For the next financial year, following the funding round, we are forecasting material growth in net sales while remaining profitable,” Brown said. “We have been profitable on a net-profit basis since launch and a key focus for us is maintaining a sustainable business model.

“This round brings together founders and operators who have built some of the most recognisable consumer brands in the UK. Their support is a huge vote of confidence in what we’re building.”
