Lipton Teas and Infusions has appointed former Heineken executive Marc Busain as its new CEO.

According to the tea and herbal drinks maker, Busain will be taking on the role from 1 October, while current CEO Pierre Laubies will return to the group's supervisory board.

Following Laubies' appointment to the role of CEO in April, Just Drinks understands that Lipton named him as a permanent CEO to give some certainty to the company's staff and partners while the company continued to look for a new chief executive.

The plan was for Laubies to move back to the supervisory board when a new chief executive was found.

He had previously been chair of the supervisory board since 2022.

Lipton's incoming CEO Busain has spent most of his career with Heineken, first joining their finance team in 1995.

He held a series of senior leadership roles from 2003 across Europe, Africa and the Americas.

In 2015, he joined Heineken’s global executive team as president for the Americas region.

Commenting on his appointment at Lipton, Marc Busain said: “It is a tremendous pleasure to join a company with responsibility for such a collection of storied and much-loved brands.

“Tea, in all its varied forms, is an exciting growth category and I look forward to working with the talented team at Lipton Teas and Infusions to ensure there’s a tea for everyone."

Current supervisory board chair, Jean-Remy Roussel, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Marc to Lipton Teas and Infusions on behalf of the supervisory board.

“Marc has tremendous global experience in the consumer-packaged goods sector and a track record of consistently delivering growth. With his strong commercial acumen and leadership, I have every confidence that the world’s leading tea business is in good hands.”

He added: “I also look forward to having Pierre rejoin us on the supervisory board and thank him for his hands-on management during this period.”
