Anora strikes Sweden distribution tie-up with Gotlands Ginfabrik

The Chill Out wines maker said the agreement "strengthens Anora's offering and promotes the presence of unique Swedish craft spirits in the market".

Nordic wine and spirits maker Anora Group has announced a new partnership with Swedish gin producer Gotlands Ginfabrik, which includes distribution.

In a statement, Anora said the tie-up provides Gotlands Ginfabrik with a partner offering “market-leading distribution , "in-depth insights, in-house logistics", as well as "a strong presence" in Sweden's state-owned alcohol retailer Systembolaget and the local bar and restaurant sector. 

Åsa Strömberg, country director of spirits in Sweden at Anora, said “producers today are looking for more than just a logistics chain; they are looking for a partner who can create real proximity to customers”.  

“With our own logistics, our unique systems and our strong relationships in the market, we can offer just that.” 

Calle Magnusson, senior brand manager spirits at Anora, added: "This is not just a distribution agreement - it is a partnership where we jointly want to get close to both consumers and the restaurant market, inspire and grow."

Founded by Sakarias Ronquist and Mathias Jonk on the island of Gotland in Sweden, Gotlands Ginfabrik's portfolio predominantly focuses on gin but it also includes vodka, premixed cocktails and mulled wine.

In the same statement, Anora said the "collaboration... strengthens the company's position as a leader in the Nordic wine and spirits markets".

It added: "With shared values ​​around quality, sustainability and innovation, this partnership strengthens Anora's offering and promotes the presence of unique Swedish craft spirits in the market."

In 2024, Sweden's gin and genever market was worth $59.7m, according to findings from GlobalData, Just Drinks' parent. Sales value is forecast to get to $68m in 2029.

Anora's own portfolio includes the gin brand Skagerrak. It also owns brands such as Koskenkorva vodka and Chill Out wines. It exports to over 30 markets. 

Just Drinks has asked the Finland-headquartered group to confirm whether it plans to distribute Gotlands' gin markets outside of Sweden.

In its second quarter of 2025, Anora’s net sales fell by 6.6% to €165.5m ($191.9m) on the same period in 2024.  

Its operating result declined 20.2%, down to €6.7m. Its comparable operating result was down 16.7%, at €7.2m.

EBITDA dropped 9.9% in the period to €13.5m, while comparable EBITDA was down 8.3% to €14m.

For the first half of 2025, net sales decreased by 5.3% to €306.8m, while the operating result slipped 4.3% on same period last year, reaching €8.8m.

The result for the period broke even, marking an improvement from a €0.4m loss a year earlier. 

EBITDA in Anora's half-year period dropped 1.4% to €22.4m, while comparable EBITDA was down 8.8% to €22m.
