Spanish wine group Familia Torres has appointed Fabrice Ducceschi as its new general manager.

Ducceschi will step into the group’s highest executive level role in September, with a transition period due to follow until December.

The appointment follows the announcement of a leadership transition at Familia Torres over a year ago.

In late 2023, Familia Torres announced that Miguel Torres Maczassek would step back from general management to prepare for his future role as president, succeeding his father, Miguel A Torres.

"This generational transition process has not yet been finalised", the company told Just Drinks yesterday (9 July).

Xavier Armengol and Miquel Miró were appointed general managers in 2023 to replace Torres Maczassek. They will step down from the company at the end of this year.

In a statement announcing Ducceschi's appointment, Miguel A. Torres, chairman of the company's board, said: “I am confident that Mr Fabrice Ducceschi, with his experience and global strategic vision, will help consolidate our business in this new phase and successfully address the challenges of the ever-evolving and transforming wine sector.”

Ducceschi enters the role with a background in consumer goods, having held positions at food companies Albacora Alimentos, Adam Foods and Nutrexpa.

Commenting on his appointment, Ducceschi said: “My aim is to work as a team with the directors and the Board of Directors to strengthen Familia Torres’ position both in Spain and internationally, ensuring sustainable growth aligned with the company’s values.

"This approach will enable us to consolidate our existing projects while also developing new initiatives.”

Headquartered in Vilafranca del Penedès, Spain, Familia Torres produces wine from the Penedès, Conca de Barberà, Priorat, and Costers del Segre regions.

The company also owns vineyards and wineries in Spain’s leading wine regions -Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, and Rías Baixas - as well as in Chile and California.
