California’s Wolves Whiskey has released the first in a new run of limited edition American whiskeys.

The Rye Project Volume One comprises rye whiskey that has been aged in new American oak casks for six years prior to a finishing period of an unspecified time. Created in collaboration with Kentucky-based Willett Distillery, the expression is a blend of Wolves’ rye whiskey with Willett’s six- and seven-year-old ryes.

Limited to 623 cases in the first batch, Volume One is rolling out now across California, New York, Texas, Illinois, Colorado, New Jersey, Florida, Connecticut, Nevada, Arizona, Minnesota and Maryland as well as Washington DC.

The company added that the second – and final – batch of Volume One will launch in Spring.

Last week, Amber Beverage Group acquired Irish whiskey producer Walsh Whiskey, two years after the latter exited a JV agreement with Illva Saronno.
