The Danish brwer, Carlsberg Breweries A/S, has announced that it has increased its holdings in two Vietnamese brewers, South-East Asia Brewery Ltd and Hue Brewery Ltd.
The deal gives Carlsberg a majority participation in South-East Asia Brewery boosting its share from 35% to 60%. It also held 35% of Hue and has now acquired a further 15% giving it a 50% stake in the company.

Carlsberg bought the shares in both brewers, for a total sum of DKr95m, from the Danish Industrialisation Fund for Developing Countries (IFU). The deals remain subject to approval from local regulatory authorities.
The remaining shares in South-East Asia Brewery are owned by the Vietnamese government while local government authorities control the remaining 50% in Hue.
The two brewers have a combined market share of around 9% of the Vietnamese beer sector. Hue Brewery’s prime brand is Huda while South-East Asia Brewery produces the Halida brand.
