Spirits sales in the US kept their head above water with a 1% volume rise in 2009 and are set to grow more strongly in 2010, according to the head of the US Distilled Spirits Council.
Spirits volumes for the 12 months to the end of December rose by 1.4% against 2008, with net sales flat against the prior year on US$18.7bn, said Distilled Spirits Council (DISCUS) CEO Peter Cressy today (2 February).
“Our data shows that there is light at the end of the tunnel,” Cressy told analysts at the trade body’s annual briefing.
