Earnings at the soft drinks producer, Pepsi Bottling Group Inc. (PBG), rose by 2.8% from US$178m, or 61 cents a share, to US$183m, 67 cents a share, in the third quarter of the current fiscal year.

The company said earnings growth had been inhibited by soft volumes and lower profitability from its Mexican operations.

Sales at PBG, which is the largest bottler of Pepsi brands in the world, rose by 14.2% from US$2.46 billion to US$2.81 billion.
