The cranberry juice cooperative Ocean Spray is to axe 58 corporate positions as part of a restructuring announced earlier this month, the company said yesterday.

This is the third phase of restructuring that has already seen four vice presidents and eight other executive level managers being dismissed. The total of 58 job losses apparently amounts to a 10.3% cut in corporate office and field sales positions.

At the beginning of last month a new 12-member board of Ocean Spray was voted in to support the needs of small-scale growers, after 53% of shareholders approved a resolution to replace the current 15-member board.

The company also replaced its interim chief executive, Barbara Thomas, with Randy Papadellis, who is running Ocean Spray as president and chief operating officer.
