The US wine giant E&J Gallo Winery is to acquire one of California’s oldest wineries Louis M. Martini Winery for an undisclosed sum.  The sale will include the Martini brand and gives Gallo 680 plantable acres of prime vineyards in Napa and Sonoma counties. Martini produces between 130,000 to 150,000 cases annually compared to Gallo’s 60m cases a year. However, Gallo was understood to have been attracted by Martini’s prime Napa vineyards.
