The US division of Diageo has appointed an executive director for its Control States unit.

The company, which earlier this week issued an interim statement for its third quarter, said yesterday (6 May) that Lynn Walding will assume the new position with immediate effect.

Walding, who teaches graduate courses on Administrative Law, Law & Public Management, and Business, Government & Society at Iowa State University, has recently stepped down as administrator of the Iowa alcoholic beverages division. He will report in to Guy Smith, executive vice president of corporate relations and Ken Lane, vice president of state government affairs, and will be a member of the Control State leadership team under the direction of Mark Hubler, president of the Control States unit.

“Lynn comes to Diageo with more than a decade of highly successful leadership of the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division,” Diageo said. “He brings with him … many deep and trusting relationships within the Control State community.”

The Control States are 19 US jurisdictions that directly control the sale and distribution of alcohol beverages.
