US wine producer, Canandaigua Wine Co., is to close its grape concentrate production plant in order to focus on making wine, the company has announced.

Lisa Farrell, a spokesperson for Canandaigua, which is part of the Constellation Brands group, said its grape concentrate products, used in sweetening in soft drinks and other products, were facing declining sales.

The closure of the plant near Modesto in California will result in the loss of 42 jobs.
