In a statement to Just Drinks, the Buffalo Trace brand owner said Full Sail had built “a strong business plus production and manufacturing capabilities”.
Sazerac added the acquisition “enables us to add additional capacity and capabilities to our network”.
It did not respond to questions on the assets that will change hands nor on the number of staff that will move to the company.
Established in Hood River, Oregon, in 1987, Full Sail Brewing specialises in craft beer brewing and contract packaging services.
The transaction coincides with Sazerac’s reported plans to invest in production in Kentucky.
According to the Louisville Courier Journal, Sazerac plans to spend more than $600m across four sites in the state.
The company shared the plans during a monthly Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority meeting, the report said.
The largest sum will go to a project in Garrard County, with other projects planned in Franklin, Daviess, and Laurel counties.
Sazerac declined to comment on the report.
In June, Sazerac purchased a site in Kentucky belonging to former Bourbon distiller Garrard County Distilling. Sazerac’s subsidiary, Tom Collins Distilling, secured the property as the sole bidder at a court-ordered auction in June.
A page for Garrard County Distilling on LinkedIn suggests a company called Staghorn owned the business in Lancaster, Kentucky. The site has a more than 50,000 square-foot distillery as well as rickhouses.
