Greene King has appointed a new managing director for its pub company division. Mark Angela will join the company in mid-January from Colgate Palmolive.


Angela will replace Neil Gillis at the UK-based brewer and pub manager. Gillis left in August to take a position with Esporta, the upmarket health club operator. Tim Bridge, the Greene King chief executive has been acting managing director, and will return to his permanent position when Angela joins the company.


Angela will become an executive member of the board, having spent the last two years as general manager of Colgate-Palmolive’s Hill Pet Nutritions in Canada.


Greene King has a total of 571 managed pubs.
