Hall & Woodhouse, the UK brewer of premium bottled ales, is to build a GBP5m (US$7.8m) brewery on its existing Blandford St Mary site in Dorset, southwest England.
The new brewery will be dedicated to brewing the group’s range of award-winning Badger ales, said Hall & Woodhouse today (9 February).
Group vice chairman Mark Woodhouse said that the plan “ensures that we continue brewing the high quality and innovative flavoured ales for which we have such an enviable reputation”.
Demand for premium bottled ale has outperformed a UK beer market that has shrunk in mid-single digits over the last year.
Badger bottled ales have grown 11-fold in the last decade and have a 9% market share of bottled ales in multiple retailers, said Hall & Woodhouse.
