The UK’s Independent Television Commisson (ITC) has cleared a Foster’s TV ad featuring a bungee jumper’s head appearing to be bitten off by a crocodile after it received some 186 complaints concerning the commercial.

The ad promotes the new Foster’s “Hit Tap” system which gives lager drinkers a constant head on their beer. Despite receiving 186 complaints, the ITC ruled that the ad was acceptable. The ITC said the ad used humour and was not graphic or realistic.

The ITC pointed out that the ad had been vetted by the Broadcast Advertising Clearance Centre which had prevented it from being screened during children’s TV. However, some of the complaints referred to the fact that the ad had been shown during the film, Jurassic Park and during the broadcast of Formula One motor races.
