Scotch whisky producer The Edrington Group has appointed Steven Sleigh as its new head of global travel retail.
Sleigh was most recently Edrington’s area director for the UK and Benelux countries.
He will replace William Ovens, who is leaving the company to become sales and marketing director with Presentation Products, a packaging supplier to the drinks industry and composite gift-pack producer for UK retailers.
“Global travel retail (GTR) has become an important and growing part of Edrington’s business and its Scotch whisky brands have been the fastest growing in their respective categories in this channel,” said the firm, which owns The Famous Grouse, Macallan, Highland Park and Cutty Sark Scotch whiskies.
The group added that travel retail is a “key part” of its strategy for the Brugal rum brand.
“This is an exciting time for Edrington and we are finalising plans to expand our team to take advantage of the many opportunities in the travel retail category,” said Sleigh, who has worked for Edrington for 18 years.
