UK: Allied beats expectations but US cause for concern
Allied Domecq today reported that it had achieved a 6% rise in profits for the first half of 2002, however it warned that some of its leading brands had worryingly under performed in the key US market. Analysts had expected Allied to come in with profits between £238m and £249m. In fact the UK-based drinks group achieved first half pre-tax profits of £251m (US$364.5m).
