Tropicana Brands Group has appointed Glen Walter as its debut CEO. The juice brand owner confirmed yesterday that Walter will transition from food group Mondelez International, where he has served as North America president since 2017. Prior to joining Mondelez, Walter held a string of management positions within beverages, including ten years with EJ Gallo Winery as GM and just under five years with The Coca-Cola Co, where he rose to become CEO of Coca-Cola China. Tropicana Brands Group came into being earlier this year after PepsiCo sold off North American control of the Tropicana Naked, Copella and Punica juice brands to private equity group PAI Partners in August for US$3.3bn. Under the terms of the deal, PepsiCo retained a 39% interest in the newly-founded joint venture with PAI, as well as the distribution rights for the brands in the US. “We are excited to partner with PAI on this joint venture,” said PepsiCo CEO Ramon Laguarta. “PAI brings a consistently strong track record of value creation in the global food & beverage industry, and Glen’s background is a perfect fit for the company as it embarks on its next chapter.” What’s set to shape the soft drinks category in 2022? – Click here for Just Drinks' predictions
