The Caribbean-based beer brand, Carib Beer, has entered into a five-year sponsorship deal for the West Indies four-day first-class cricket championship which will now be known as the Carib Beer Cricket Series.

“Along with the recent announcement of our relationship with Trinidad & Tobago cricket, this is an exciting addition to our sponsorship list,” said Norman Sabga, chairman and CEO of Ansa McAl which owns Carib Brewery. “The West Indies first-class cricket championship, now the Carib Beer Cricket Series, is one of the biggest competitions on the Caribbean sports calendar. We see a close link between Carib Beer and the West Indies first-class competition.

Based in Trinidad & Tobago, Carib Beer is a well known brand throughout the Caribbean so the championship, which includes teams from Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Windward Islands and the Leeward Islands, as well as the Trinidad & Tobago side and the West Indies B-Team, is an ideal sponsorship vehicle.

This is not the first cricket sponsorship the brand has been involved with. The company was the official sponsor of the West Indies team at the World Cup in 1999.
