A joint wine industry, police and revenue services operation to close down illegal liquor production and distribution operators is underway in South Africa, as more illegal products make their way onto the domestic market. Working on various fronts to close down syndicates which are using industrial alcohol is starting to show dividends, said Riaan Kruger, executive director of the Cape Wine & Spirits Institute (CWSI), which represents the major producing wholesalers in South Africa.
