South Africa’s wine harvest, which is in full swing, is expected to be down by 8.7% on the 2000 harvest after initial estimates last month had the two crops level pegging. This will impact only on white wines, while red wine volumes are expected to increase. Viticulturists and winemakers say the quality of the wines at this stage is very good.
