KWV International and German wine and spirit giant Racke GmbH have entered a joint venture to market and distribute a new range of Cape wines globally.

The German launch of the Golden Kaan range of six single varietal wines was done at Pro Wein yesterday, with the full international launch due at Vinexpo, Bordeaux, later in the year – with the worldwide roll out following on.

KWV International said today the launch follows 2½ years of intensive market research, product evaluation and packaging design.

Within 24 hours of being offered at the Racke stand at the show, listings had been received for some of the wines from German retailers, even though limited quantities of the wines were available.

The wines, which will retail at €4.49, include a Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and Pinotage.
