Solo Coffee has released an RTD espresso in the UK.

Solo Espresso Shot is made using coffee concentrate and water, with each shot containing 127 mg of caffeine. A 33cl can of Red Bull contains 77mg of caffeine.

The UK-based company said the product has been designed based on research that found 44% of the country’s coffee-drinkers buy their coffee from non-specialist outlets such as supermarkets, fast food restaurants or convenience stores.

“We have always wanted to make a product for retail and when the idea of the espresso shot presented itself, it felt so obvious to us,” said Solo Coffee’s co-founder, Theo Garcia. “By making a shot of espresso readily available in shot format, we have made great coffee much more accessible.”

Earlier this week, Nestle CFO François-Xavier Roger warned an industry conference of an impending rise in coffee costs next year.
