The Slovenian Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by the brewing giant Interbrew to overturn a lower court decision that threw out its lawsuit against the country’s leading brewer for illegal business practices.

Interbrew had sued the Slovenian brewer Lasko after it acquired a 48% stake in the country’s second largest brewery, Union. Interbrew owned a 41% share in Union itself, and said that the acquisition by Lasko was illegal and violated European Union anti-monopoly laws.
However, Supreme Court Judge Marko Sorli said: “The court dismisses the appeal as allegations made by Interbrew have been comprehensively and adequately responded to” in the original decision in July.
