RUSSIA: Net profit rises by 20% at Wimm-Bill-Dann

Wimm-Bill-Dann (WBD), the Russian fruit juice and dairy group, recorded a 20% rise in US GAAP net profit for the first quarter of the current fiscal year to $9.6m on sales 17% higher at $197.4m. This was the company's first time reporting quarterly results under US GAAP. EBITDA at the company rose by 18.5% to $21.8m.

WBD is Russia’s largest Russia’s largest fruit juice and dairy products group. The company also reported that fruit juice sales had risen by 33.5% in the first half of 2002 to 224,000 tonnes, while dairy sales were up by 13%. The company has 30% market shares in both the fruit juice and dairy sectors in Russia.
