The Russian brewer, Yarpivo, part of the Baltic Beverage Holding (BBH) joint venture between Carlsberg and Scottish & Newcastle, posted first quarter sales of Rub1.2 billion (US$38.36m). Sales in volume terms rose by 7% to 1.1 billion litres.

The company also announced that it is planning to launch a new brand of wheat beer in PET packaging later this year. Yarpivo is located in Yaroslavl which is around 400 kilometers east of Moscow. The company has around a 7% share of the Russian beer market.
