Baltika has signed a new deal worth US$270m for its supply of aluminium cans.
The contract, with Russia’s top aluminium firm Russian Aluminium, is for six years. The Russian brewer, which is joint-owned by Carlsberg and Scottish & Newcastle, announced the contract yesterday.

The aluminium firm’s unit, ROSTAR, will provide 50% of Baltika’s aluminium packaging needs. The unit has an annual production capacity of 1.32 billion cans. In 2002 its products accounted for 41% of the Russian beverage can market.
