The Portuguese winemaker Sogrape has posted 2003 net profits of more than double those of a year ago.

The maker of the famous Mateus Rose brand saw net profits of €11.6m. The figures were boosted by the arrival of the Sandeman Port and Sherry business into the portfolio, which the company acquired from Pernod Ricard, after the French group bought the Seagram drinks empire.

Sogrape sales totalled €150m.
