US winery Plata Wine Partners’ current president and CEO Scott Smith has announced plans to retire from the business.
Smith will retire in December, having joined the company in 2019. Just Drinks has asked Plata to confirm when it expects to hire a new CEO.
Jason Strobbe has been named the group’s new president.
He previously held leadership positions at Vintage Wine Estates and Truett Hurst as well as Shearer’s Snacks and SaraLee, among others.
California-based Plata Wine Partners said in a statement: “Strobbe will work closely with Smith over the coming months, fully integrating with the team, upholding the company’s commitment to quality and innovation, ensuring that Plata’s vision remains clear, and goals are met”.
The vintner and bulk wine service provider was founded in 2005 by Dennis Stroud in Napa Valley. The company owns and manages over 18,000 acres of vineyards, marketing wine under brands including The Abrupt Vineyards and The Buccaneer.
