Bernd Masche has resigned as MD of Namibian Breweries Limited, after 35 years with the company, but will continue to serve as a strategic consultant to the board.

Succeeding him on 1 September is Marcus von Blottnitz, another Namibian, a commercial consultant with Heineken, one of two new joint-venture partners in this Southern African brewery.

This follows closely on the heels of the EC approval of the €31m sale of Interbrew’s stake in NBL to a joint venture set up between Heineken and Diageo.

Von Blottnitz, who was born in the northern copper town of Tsumeb, and is presently residing in Switzerland, joined Heineken in 1999.
