Operating profit reached MXN787.8m, compared with a pro forma figure for 2001 of MXN907.6m. Sales for the second quarter fell from MXN3.74 billion against comparable turnover in 2001 of MXN3.60 billion. The pro forma figure was calculated as though the companies, Argos, Arma and Premarsa, had been part of the Arca group, Mexico’s second largest soft drinks bottler, in first half 2001. Arca was formed at the end of 2001 through the merger of three of Mexico’s oldest bottlers.
