Netherlands-based craft brewer Lowlander has added an IPA to its roster that has been brewed using spruce needles and juniper berries. The bottled beer is targetting the winter months and marks the first time that Lowlander has brewed a beer using ingredients sourced from trees.

Winter IPA’s bottles will feature a different letter on the label, copying the Dutch tradition of “giving our loved ones chocolate letters in the shape of their initials as stocking-fillers”.

Based in Amsterdam, Lowlander was set up in 2016. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to expand its footprint to Hong Kong.
