Cott Corporation yesterday (7 July) announced its move on privately-held juice maker Cliffstar Corp for US$500m. Here we take a closer look at Cliffstar and its operations.

  • Based in New York, Cliffstar operates 11 facilities in the US, including five bottling and distribution operations, three fruit processing facilities, two fruit receiving stations and one storage facility. It employs around 1,200 staff.
  • Operational for more than 100 years, Cliffstar is one of the world’s leading suppliers of private-label beveragess. The company serves mass merchandisers, food service companies, and convenience, independent and chain grocery stores in the US, as well as major retailers in Canada.
  • Cliffstar provides customised formulas and a range of juice options in a variety of flavours, including apple, cranberry, grape, grapefruit, lemon, prune and tomato.
  • It markets the Seawitch brand of cocktail mixes and the ShanStar brand of fruit-based extracts. The company also sources fruits from more than 500 growers throughout the US.
  • The Cliffstar range of products includes; USDA certified organic juices, teas and waters, 100% juice blends and juice cocktails for children, sports drinks, health and wellness juices, enhanced waters and RTD teas. The company also produces home gourmet products from lemon and lime juices to seasoned tomato, vegetable and tomato clam juices.
