Coming up at this year’s London International Wine Fair:

  • Slovenia’s P&F Wineries (stand G71) will bring members of the Puklavec family and chief winemaker Mitja Herga to the LIWF next week. At 1030 on the Wednesday, an ‘Archive Wine Tasting’ will be held on the stand, offering a tasting of wines dating back as far as 1956. For additional information and/or to make an appointment, email info@pfwineries.com.
  • Distil (stand J40) will be hosting a pre-tasting of selected wines from this year’s Nederburg Auction in South Africa at the wine fair. The tasting will be hosted by the Nederburg Cellarmaster, Razvan Macici, and will showcase age-worthy and vintage wines from South Africa that will feature in this year’s auction. Numbers are limited for the tasting, so email lucy@touch-pr.co.uk to book your place.
  • Australia’s First Families of Wine (South Gallery Room 8) will host two tasting events at the exhibition. On Tuesday, a speed tasting will take place between 1130 and 1230, with many of the producers present. As well as older vintages such as the Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Hunter Semillon 2005 and Henschke Keyneton Euphonium 2006, latest releases from Jim Barry and De Bortoli will be on offer, as well as the newly-named Campbells Rutherglen Topaque, formerly Tokay, will make an appearance. Then, between 1400 and 1800 on the Tuesday, an open-pour tasting takes place. Then, try the blind tasting, where matching 12 wines against the 12 AFFW members could win you a prize.
  • Specialist marketing and research agency Winebrand (stand H31) will make its debut at the wine fair next week, offering a range of lower alcohol wines from the major multiples. The test will be conducted by company founder Lynne Whitaker and her research partner, Wendy Ives. “We felt that the wine fair offers a perfect opportunity to seek the opinion of experts into one of the most critical aspects of lower alcohol wines – the taste,” says Whitaker.
