Coca-Cola has sent a senior executive to Ireland to try and lift a student union ban on the sale of its products. The students allege that the company complies with paramilitary activities in Columbia.

A report in the Irish Independent said Coca-Cola’s director of communications in Latin America, Rafael Fernandez Ouiros, will meet with Irish employees and student representatives. He will advise them that the company has been wrongly accused.

UCD Students Union voted last month to ban the sale of Coca-Cola products in outlets operated by the union. The subject will go to a second vote next month.
