Scottish brewer Innis & Gunn has teamed up with Beam Suntory’s Laphroaig whisky distillery on Islay for the release of its latest cask-matured beer.
The 7.4% Innis & Gunn Islay Whisky Cask, available in 33cl bottles, is matured in Laphroaig ten-year-old single malt Scotch casks for 12 weeks. The limited-edition run of 3,400 went on sale from the Innis & Gunn online store on Friday for GBP6.96 (US$10) each.
Chris Richardson, global senior director for Laphroaig, said: “The Islay Whisky Cask limited-edition is perfect for anyone who loves the unforgettable flavour of Laphroaig and wants to experience it married with the deep, rich flavours of one of Scotland’s top beers.”
In January, C&C Group announced it had bought an 8% holding in Innis & Gunn for an undisclosed fee. Under the terms of the deal, C&C will continue to package Innis & Gunn beers and take over on-premise, wholesale and free-trade distribution.
