UK brewer Innis & Gunn has released its oldest aged beer.

Vintage has been matured for 100 days in first-fill American Bourbon casks before being fermented in bottles for six years. The 9%-abv beer is on sale through the Innis & Gunn online store for GPB25 (US$35) per 50cl bottle, with only 1,000 units available.

Co-founder & master brewer Dougal Gunn Sharp said six years maturation is “almost unheard of” in brewing. “Innis & Gunn was founded on a passion for trying different styles of maturation and Vintage achieves a special milestone for us,” Sharp continued.

The Scottish brewer, which specialises in barrel-aged beers, recently overhauled its core range. Revamped packaging rolls out on The Original and Caribbean Rum Cask variants earlier this year. Also included in the redesign is the company’s Irish Whiskey Cask stout beer, which has been upgraded to become a permanent addition to The Original’s portfolio.
