Highland Distillers, maker of The Famous Grouse whisky, announced today that it is in discussions with a number of companies regarding the distribution of its Scotch whisky products within the Indian market.
Paul Ross, director of emerging markets, said that like many other international companies operating within this “vibrant economic environment”, Highland Distillers would continue to reassess business opportunities as they arose.
“Highland Distillers and The Famous Grouse have been operating within India for many years and opened its India Liaison office three years ago, and the market remains intrinsic to the company’s long-term business outlook and success,” said Ross.
“In such a fast changing environment it is imperative that Highland Distillers continues to reassess business opportunities. We have had tentative discussions with a number of Indian companies about forging possible trading links to strengthen our local presence. The process is at an early stage and any conclusion is still some distance away.”
The company said it stressed the continuing importance of its long-standing relationship with Highland Distillers India.
