High Basin Brands (HBB), a Texas-based premium spirits company has officially launched, backed by a $4m seed funding round.

The company, founded in 2023, has also acquired Treaty Oak Brewing and Distilling, regarded as “one of Texas’ oldest distilleries”.

Details about investors in the funding round and financial terms of the purchase of Treaty Oak were not disclosed.

Treaty Oak’s assets include a 25-acre distillery in Dripping Springs, Texas. Its portfolio includes three whiskey SKUs: the Ghost Hill Bourbon, Day Drinker Bourbon and a ready-to-serve Old Fashioned bottled cocktail.

HBB is set to launch a Ghost Hill Organic Vodka in early 2025, marking the group’s entry into the premium organic spirits market.

Under its “grain-to-glass” production model, HBB sources heirloom grains from Barton Springs Mill, claimed to be one of Texas’ “largest” organic farms, supporting local agriculture and reducing carbon emissions. The group plans to secure ranch certification for sustainable farming at the site.

Following the deal, HBB said it also looks to obtain organic certification for Treaty Oak and make it the “largest” certified organic distillery in Texas.

HBB’s leadership team includes LaMont Herman as CEO, Alex Fauveau as CFO, and Jordan Rothschild-Noomé as CMO.

Rothschild-Noomé said: “Acquiring Treaty Oak is a transformative step in expanding our portfolio and leading the industry toward more conscious consumption.

“With so few certified organic whiskey options currently available, we’re excited to fill that gap by transitioning Treaty Oak to organic production.”

Herman added: “Most industries are crowded with brands offering similar experiences. It is the brands making bold moves, rooted in genuine values, that stand out and succeed. High Basin Brands is about more than products; it is about purpose.”

HBB’s rollout in the US is supported by major alcoholic drinks distributor Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits.

Southern Glazers’ partner network, including “nationally recognised” grocery, big box, and specialty retailers, as well as hotel chains and hospitality groups, are expected to help HBB “make a significant impact in the premium organic spirits category”.
