Christie’s has sold a 60-year-old wine for more than US$300,000, believed to be a new world record for a bottle of wine sold at auction.
Christie’s said today (17 November) that it sold a imperial-size bottle of Cheval Blanc 1947 for $304,375. It said that the sale was completed at an auction in Geneva, Switzerland.
“We are extremely pleased to have established the world record price for any bottle of wine at auction,” said the head of Christie’s international wine department, David Elswood.
