The managing director of KWV’s German unit, Golden Kaan, has left the company to head up a wine cooperative in the country.
Marian Kopp has become managing director and president of Niederkirchener Weinmacher eG, a cooperative in Germany’s Pfalz region, the company said yesterday (6 April).
Kopp was previously president of KWV’s partner in Golden Kaan, Racke International, before becoming managing director and president of Golden Kaan.
Last September, KWV and Racke dissolved the joint venture, with KWV acquiring 100% of Golden Kaan. Kopp has been helping with the handover, with the change of ownership offering him “the opportunity to pursue my career with a new employer and a new challenge with overall responsibility”, he told just-drinks yesterday.
The Niederkirchener Weinmacher cooperative has 220 active members, which supply 20 grape varietals.
Kopp’s appointment took effect from the beginning of this month.
